Trace every water path
Begin with rain, wind-driven rain, snow melt, upstream roof runoff, irrigation, pool splash, cleaning water and ground splash. For each source, identify where water hits the sauna, where it travels, where it drains and where it could become trapped.
Use the climate specification guide when the project has snow, coastal air, high humidity or strong UV exposure.

Check roof geometry, edges and upper-shell details
A sauna roof or curved shell must move water away from vulnerable interfaces. Review roof layers, edge details, trim, fasteners, sealants, end-wall junctions, snow load context and upstream water sources. Do not assume a curved shell alone protects the base or entry.

Check doors, glazing, vents and penetrations
Doors, glass, vents, lighting and electrical penetrations are common weak points. Confirm the included parts, installation sequence, protection from direct runoff and local responsibilities. If a site team adds a canopy, flashing, deck or utility penetration, that interface must be coordinated with the sauna supplier's product boundary.
Protect the base and foundation interface
The foundation must keep support points stable while allowing water to leave. Review finished level, slope, drains, frost or settlement risk, cleaning-water path and access for lower-shell inspection. The base should not sit in ponding water or be hidden by site work that prevents inspection.

Materials, finishes and maintenance
Material names alone do not prove outdoor durability. Confirm the selected model's approved material schedule, finish system, fasteners, cleaning method, maintenance interval and replacement access. Substitutions should be approved by form, fit, function and service impact, not by appearance alone.
